Perdana Awards
Background & Purpose
The Perdana Young Indian Entrepreneur Award (Perdana YIEA) was launched by KUSIM‑Berhad, also recognized as the Malaysian Indian Entrepreneurs Cooperative (MIEC). The award’s aim was to spotlight and celebrate successful Indian‑Malaysian entrepreneurs—especially younger business leaders—whose innovations, job creation, and leadership contributed greatly to Malaysia’s economic and community development.

Notable Honourees
At the 2019 edition, about 30 exceptional entrepreneurs were honoured. A highlight was the presentation of the special Malaysia’s Philanthropist Award to Vincent Tan, the founder of Berjaya Corporation Berhad, in recognition of his significant charitable contributions.
Organizer
The awards were organised under the auspices of Koperasi Usahawan India Malaysia Berhad (KUSIM‑Berhad), operating with MIEC involvement. Mathuraiveran Marimuthu, who chaired MIEC, served as the organising chairman for the 2019 awards ceremony.
The Perdana Awards was a prominent initiative intended to elevate Indian‑Malaysian entrepreneurs—especially younger leaders—by granting them public recognition, exposure, and business networking opportunities. It played a key role in symbolizing the cooperative’s mission of promoting economic growth and empowerment within the community.
