What Is Bulan Koperasi Kebangsaan?

Bulan Koperasi Kebangsaan (BKK) is Malaysia’s official National Cooperative Month, observed throughout Julyannually in conjunction with the International Day of Cooperatives, which falls on the first Saturday of July each year Utusan Malaysia+10Mediabatu+10Utusan Borneo+10.

Introduced by Suruhanjaya Koperasi Malaysia (SKM) and the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development & Cooperatives (KUSKOP), BKK was first formally celebrated in 2022 E-Peserta+6Mediabatu+6Borneo Daily Bulletin+6. Its purpose is to honour the contribution of cooperatives to the nation’s socio-economic development, increase public awareness, and promote cooperative products and services nationwide.

Objectives & Themes

• To raise awareness of the cooperative movement’s role in the Malaysian economy.

• To recognise achievements across various cooperative sectors through awards and state-level celebrations, often culminating in a national-level event—Hari Koperasi Negara (HKN) E-Peserta+4Kosmo Digital+4Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia+4.

• In 2024 and 2025, the theme was “Malaysia Madani Teras Kecemerlangan Koperasi”, reflecting the government’s Madani vision and emphasizing cooperative excellence Kosmo Digital. 

Recent Highlights

• BKK 2025 was officially launched on 19 June 2025 at Putrajaya by Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, with a RM2 million allocation for the “Program Jelajah Koperasi” involving over 160 cooperatives and additional funding for sales events like Koperasi MADANI across the country Borneo Daily Bulletin+4Pelancar+4Mediabatu+4.

• A series of regional events, including a Mini Karnival Koperasi in Tenom, Sabah, were held to galvanize rural cooperative engagement Borneo Daily Bulletin+1Nabalu News+1.
